Google Boosts Mobile Impact for Searches

Google, as reported by Search Engine Land, is increasing the impact of your website being mobile adaptive. This May, Google will be "gradually" phasing in an increased factor of your site's mobile readiness. This may take a month or two to fully take effect. You may recall that last year google first instituted the mobile compatibility of sites into its core algorithm. With this year's incremental change, the importance of your site being mobile responsive is even more critical.

Beyond the primary issue of functionality and ease of use for your site visitors, there will essentially be a mobile divide. Those "with" will be readily found on mobile devices, those "without" will become increasingly relegated lower and lower on mobile based searches, well beyond the typical user's searching; effectively taking non mobile sites out of the running for searches on phones and tablets. Furthermore, as recently reported by Google, over half of all searches are now performed on mobile devices rather than "computers" in 10 Countries including the US and Japan.
